Man Faces Multiple Larceny, Forgery Charges After Wilton Resident's Report Of Stolen Checks

A 22-year-old man is facing larceny and forgery charges after police say a Wilton resident reported having their checks stolen.

Wilton Police say Mekai Jones of Hackensack, New Jersey was arrested on a warrant on Tuesday, June 4.

After a Wilton resident reported having their checks stolen in the mail in July 2018, an investigation was opened and police obtained a warrant for Jones’ arrest.

Jones was charged with the following:

  • Third-degree forgery
  • Third-degree conspiracy to commit forgery
  • First-degree larceny
  • First-degree attempted larceny

Jones is being held at Bergen County Correctional in lieu of $75,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 5.

This is the second arrest in regards to this case, police say.
